Why write a photography blog?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ll let you know when I remember.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s talk logos instead. I\u2019ve spent hours\u2014real<\/em> hours\u2014playing with logos. It was easier than dealing with the themes available in WordPress, but I\u2019m not ready to talk about that yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, logos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Years ago, I went a little crazy watermarking my photos. It didn\u2019t matter what the photo was\u2014I even accidentally watermarked personal photos of my kids. Even then, the watermark was nothing fancy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everything was great, I was happy, then one day, I read an interesting article claiming watermarking was stupid and only arrogant people did it. Having a random relative ask why my name was on the photos I posted didn’t help. Embarrassed, I stopped. Who was I to think my photos were good enough to watermark? I mean, really?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, afterwards I read even more opinions: watermarking is useless, watermarking is great for promoting your business, watermarking\u2026 Everyone has opinions. And everyone\u2019s opinion is right\u2014and everyone else is wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sigh.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, I know\u2014logos aren\u2019t the same as watermarks. But the time I\u2019ve spent finding just the right font, the right image, wondering \u201cShould I move that over there?\u201d\u2014it reminds me of all the time I invested in choosing something I later cast aside because of negative opinions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why have a logo when I don\u2019t really have a business going yet?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why not?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s fun. And hey\u2014should I use a cat holding a camera as part of my logo?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe I\u2019ll never \u201ctake off\u201d as a photographer. Maybe I\u2019ll stay somewhere between hobbyist and professional, never crossing that line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
